Tai San Restaurant

Clean and well maintained! It looked like a family run restaurant and the customer service was great. We had 2 chicken dishes which came with a side of soup and spring rolls. It was delicious and had enough leftovers for an other meal. Also the table size was perfect and had room for everything.

Friendly host and great food of value. Been there a few times and never disappointed. Big portions, authentic Chinese food.

Since I was in high school and I used to work across the street. The Mandarin Chicken is the bomb. I have ordered this 99.5% of the time I've gone in there. It is my favorite version of this dish served anywhere.Try it out.

This place is really good. They use all fresh ingredients, they are fast and have good service. Tai San is the real deal. This is the first time i ever rated and commented on a place that I have eaten at.

Pork fried rice, mandarin chicken, bbq pork buns were all delicious and cheap! Sake for only $4 too!

Tai San is possibly my favorite Chinese restaurant in this part of Berkeley. We've been going there 6+ years and find that the dishes, though standard, are hot, fresh, well prepared, and reasonably priced.

Stopped by for dinner and was delighted. I ordered eggplant with hot sauce (a large cup of rice included), and it was plentiful and quite tasty (other veggies were there as well). Also included were a cup of veggie soup, a veggie spring roll, and a teapot of green tea, all for a whopping price of $6.80 including taxes. I was simply amazed. The ingredients were fresh and varied. While it was not a gastronomic experience, it was filling and pleasant, as was the service itself. Highly recommend.

The food is good reasonablly priced. But place don't turn on heat, so have to dress warmly to eat.

The food was adjustedf to my friend's needs and liking. For instance she wanted extra veggies in the dishes we ordered. I spilled s glass of wine and the staff were totally nice about it. Go there and enjoy yourself.

Good food, clean.sometimes vegetzbles are a little overcook but can ask for details ahead of time .

I have eaten here for two years and have found that the food is always awesome and the people are even better. I ordered some delivery food because I was sick. When the owner delivered it and saw that I was sick, he absolutely refused to take a tip and just told me to feel better. Try the family style tofu!

This is an absolute gem of a restaurant. Nice atmosphere, friendly servers, delicious (and plentious) food, and great prices!

Clean and friendly. However prices and descriptions from the online menu were "old" and food was almost twice as expensive. Service was fast and food was decent, despite not matching menu description.

Immediate service with water, tea, and pickled cabbage as soon as I said I was eating in. Beautiful seating area. The fried rice is very good with plenty of vegetables and egg. The eggroll and even the fortune cookie were tasty and crisp. I will definitely come back.

Our go to delivery spot. Never been to the restaurant. We order the pot stickers, mushu, Mandarin shrimp/chicken, and the egg plant. Super tasty. The delivery is super fast to our house in South Berkeley.

By far one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the Bay. Food quality is great, service is great and to top it off, the wait is non existent. Usually 10mins or less! A must try if you’re in the Berkeley area.

Solid Chinese food spot. Large portions, good tasting food and very reasonable. These are uncommon virtues these days people. Too many times we go to eat and the food is so so and the bill a no no. Will be back.

Extensive menu for a (relatively) small place. Tasty selections were served promptly. Chow fun (wide) noodles are available: something I look for. Strange "split-level" dining room, only the front half is at street level--from the kitchen in the back the staff must carry the food down five or six stairs. I assume the restrooms are upstairs as well, so some visitors might want to call for pickup or delivery instead. Relatively easy parking on S. Telegraph near Ashby.

Yum! Old fashioned taste with huge portions! This is about as old school as you can get. Delicious.

Best Chinese food in Berkeley. I go here at least once a week for their mandarin fried chicken. Food is always prepared quickly and the service is great. Highly recommend.

Good food. Place needs updating and turn on heat for customers. Shouldn't have to freeze while trying to enjoy a meal.

My guilty pleasure for both my stomach and wallet. I personally think this is the best americanized Chinese food in the area. The prices are very low. The service is excellent. The restaurant needs a face lift but it is all perfectly functional and I'll keep coming back.
